It has been a while since the last, that I have had the time to sit in my big comfy chair to knit or read a book for a couple of hours. Now that my boys are home, my days are filled with their *happy sounds* ringing in my ears. They make such a ruckus every time they are happy, frustrated, bored, and for what ever else pops into their little hearts.
Now the only quiet time I have is when they are asleep or we are at the orthodontist. Somehow we have come full circle from their younger years. It was the same then. They have never grown out of their very loud fits and joys. The only difference, now that they are teens, is that they have booming masculine voices that blares throughout our casita. Hijole! Son tan ruidosos!!
My solution- I'm taking them to our local library on Thursday for some fun summer reading! They have plenty of quiet corners where I can delve into a book or two. Again, we used to make daily trips to the library when they were younger but not so much now. With all the running around we do going from one activity to the next, we have left the library trips at the bottom of our list of things to do.
Recently, one of my tweeples perked my interest in the Central Library of Los Angeles. Now if we can only find our library cards for this place... I love it there! There is so much history, art, and of course lots of books. This trip will definitely capture the interest of my youngest. He loves science and is always searching for good reads on his favorite subjects- chemical compounds, metals, and so forth. He's outgrown many of the books they offer at our local library, but I'm sure the Central Library in downtown will have plenty of books to keep him intrigued.
I can't wait!

My son is reading Harry Potter atm (on #4 now) so we haven't been to the library recently.
You make a great point though, if we go to the library it will be quiet time for all of us with no other interruptions...we can just enjoy our books.
The library brings a lot of fond memories when I was a girl. That was my favorite outing of all time.
Hooray for books!!
