2010 ~ Week 16, 17, 18

<=== Here it is folks, me at my current size. I'm still trying my best to "suck it in" and hide behind anything, (my sweater on my handbag). With the lovely warm weather we've been having, it has gotten harder to hide my gordies.

Recently, I have had a couple of other motivators that have reminded me of what I need to do to reach my goals.

In less than a couple of weeks, I will be flying off to Miami with a group of fellow Latina bloggers from Los Angeles. Recently we had a Twitter party discussing the event [the launching of the Que Rica Vida new website]. One of the ladies asked if anyone was bringing a bikini. Que loca! Only if I had the body of model. Then I started thinking- what if it's hot out there and the pool looks inviting? Taking a little dip would be nice. The following day while complaining about my weight, one of the lovely ladies from Twitter sent me a reminder of how beautiful women truly are no matter what their *size* is. [Look ▼ below for the YouTube Real Women Have Curves post on my blog.]

The next day, I came across a discussion about the unemployed and their search efforts vs their social time. Some argued that socializing at a coffee shop was a waste of time if they truly wanted to find employment. Others argued that the unemployed need a venue where they can be around other adults, to keep their minds healthy from all the rejection they get from the workforce. This discussion hit one of my "hot buttons" quite harshly. After I got over myself, I started to reflect about the amount of passion that I have put into finding work. Relentlessly for the past two years I have filled out a plethora job applications. Within this time I have received numerous rejections from employers among the many that simply ignored me. This is the type of energy and devotion I should be placing on my weight loss efforts.

Tenacity is not without its rewards.

Weight: 185 lbs  Working my way back down.
Waist: 36 1/4"  That's 2 3/4" since January!!

You can do it! I've recently lost a little over 40 pounds and it has been a challenge but totally worth it. I will be your cheerleader! Check out my fb page, I wore a 2 piece tankini last year at my largest - we gotta love ourselves no matter what our size! (don't get it twisted, the tankini covered everything!)

Thanks Renée for being one my most recent cheerleaders. Wow!! You lost a lot of weight. That is amazing!

Time permitting, I will take that dip in the pool with all my gordies hanging about while at Miami later this week! :)
