Diagnosis ===> Appendicitis

Recently my cousin was diagnosed with appendicitis.They removed the little explosive pouch that is found at the beginning of the large intestine. My husband and I went to visit her just hours following her surgery- she was completely wiped out from the ordeal. Her experience reminded me of the time when my appendix was removed as young girl.

The torturous pain!! I'm usually the type of person that will eat even if I'm sick. No flu, cold, or food poisoning has stopped me from eating. Nothing had been able to deter my appetite until I had appendicitis. That's when my mother knew there was something very wrong with me and rushed me to the hospital.

Back then, people stayed in hospitals longer than they do now at days. I was there for a week even though the surgery went well. My stitches covered the length of my pinky and healed very nicely. I had two other roommates who kept me company and my appetite had resumed the day following my surgery.

It was a great experience considering I had just had my appendix removed. Hospital stays to me back then and now feel very much like a mini vacation from everyday life. Granted, I have never been hospitalized for anything seriously dangerous other than my appendicitis. They serve your meals to you in bed, they have people who clean your room everyday, and someone is always there to check up on you to make sure you are doing okay.

No, I do not wish to be ill enough to be hospitalized so I can take a break from my wacky schedule. That is what spas and resorts are for. All I am saying is that, it's not always that bad to be in the hospital for a few days. With lots of exceptions of course.

I hope my cousin will recover quickly and be back to her normal self again. Love you A, get well soon!
